Here's part one of a series we like to call a "Beginner's Guide to Instagram." A place where we'll be sharing Instagram tips and tricks for novices and small business owners.
First up on this series we'll be teaching the bare the basics plus a few tricks and helpful resources. Don't forget to read the entire post for a free checklist!
Planning our feeds:-
We use feed planners to make sure all our our images look good next to each other on Instagram. Planning our feed ahead of time helps maintain our client's aesthetic & keeps us well prepared.
Scheduling posts:-
Instagram terms and conditions prohibit any third party apps from posting for you. Nevertheless, there are tons of apps where you can schedule posts before hand, even via desktop! Simply upload your images to the app of your choice, make sure all your images look good next to each and blend in well with your current feed. type in your captions for all your drafts and schedule your date and time of the day. You will get a notification when it's time and the app will redirect you to Instagram complete with the image and the caption. Easy!
Apps:-
A few apps that you can use for planning & scheduling are Planoly, Buffer & Later (paid) or UNUM for IOS & Plann, Feedmaster, Garny & Preview for Android (free)
Captions:-
Once we're happy with how the feed looks we plan their captions in one go. We use good old Google Sheets to organise our posts and captions in one place. Simply create an excel sheet on google with your image and a caption. We prefer using google sheets not only because it keeps our captions in one place but also because we can align our hashtag set accurately for the image.
